Informational Sheets on Water Tank Best Practices

At D&R Tank Co., we do it all when it comes to caring for and fabricating your steel water tanks. Part of our process includes educating clients on various standards and best practices. For more information on what we do please see our informational sheets below. Feel free to contact us with any questions.

Corrosion Protection

When two different metals (i.e. carbon steel and stainless steel) touch in a corrosive environment, one metal gets damaged to protect the other. This is called galvanic corrosion, which happens when dissimilar metals and an electrolyte solution, like water, come into contact. This type of corrosion can appear quickly, even before other types of corrosion are noticeable. It can be confusing when a new asset starts showing signs of this damage early in its use. To prevent this, D&R Tank avoids using dissimilar metals in their product designs. When dissimilar metals cannot be avoided, isolation devices will be utilized to avoid galvanic corrosion.
